About Survivor Family Network
Supporting Survivors in Family Court Proceedings.

If you have children and have been subjected to domestic abuse, you may find yourself in family court proceedings. The way the family court system currently operates leaves survivors and children unsafe. These proceedings often cause further trauma for victims as they create a range of hurdles that survivors must face. These issues include a culture of disbelief, potential child removal and court-mandated contact with abusers which often leads to post-separation abuse.
We are a not-for-profit working on changing the landscape in family court, to create safer futures for survivor families, everywhere.
Research

Part of our work involves contributing to and conducting research about the issues affecting families in family court proceedings and providing useful data and information to improve current systems and services. Survivor Family Network is proud to work with academic institutions to further understanding of domestic abuse in the context of the family court.
Raising Awareness

Most survivors are unaware of the culture and processes in the family court when they first enter the system. By raising awareness, we enhance community and wider understanding of the family court and work towards achieving safer outcomes by getting crucial information out to our community.
How Do We Raise Awareness?

Events: A great way to share information and educate those around us is by hosting events. Recently we worked with University College London and Brunel University to host a Family Courts Conference.

Collaborations: We regularly work with different organisations, media outlets and academic institutions including Channel 4, Shera, and Women’s Aid. Our work has also been featured in the BBC and The Guardian.

Social Media: Social media is a great way to keep the community connected. We share information with our wide network daily through our different platforms.
