Checklist: Spotting the Signs of an Abusive Relationship

Recognising whether you are in an abusive relationship can be confusing. The following is not an exhaustive list, nor does every example need to apply to your experience for it to be an abusive relationship.

Have they hurt you physically?
Do they verbally put you down?
Do they monitor what you do, wear, and spend?
Do they control where you go or who you can meet?
Do they deprive you of necessities such as food and medications?
Have they sexually assaulted you? This includes pestering you until you give in
Do they threaten to harm you, your children, or other people you care about?
Have they prevented you from working?
Have they threatened to leak your private information? Including private images
Do they isolate you from people you care about?
