Why is a Family Justice Bill needed?
Despite ongoing efforts to protect survivors of domestic abuse, the current family court system often fails to provide sufficient protections for domestic abuse survivors and their children. Moreover, the existing procedures within our legal system can unintentionally lead to the minimisation of domestic abuse, and with it, can cause the re-traumatisation of survivors. Therefore, our proposed reform aims to create a more responsive, protective, and just system.
